You may of already seen our TOTO toilet reviews page, where we ranked the CST412MF#01 in third place based on a set of criteria that we use. This criteria involves delving into the spec and gaining an understanding of the inner workings, the design, performance, and value for money. We look at all of this and more below so that you can make a more informed decision on whether or not this will make a good addition to your bathroom.
|TOTO CST412MF#01 Aquia||Dual||1.6 / 0.9||Elongated||88%|
Flush mechanism - This is a dual flushing toilet that gives people two separate power buttons that will send either 1.6 or 0.9 gallons through the valve into the bowl. Whilst the 0.9 option meets WaterSense requirements, the 1.6 doesn't. The lesser amount is usually used to remove liquid waste, and the larger amount for getting rid of solid waste that requires a little bit more power.
Bowl - An elongated shape that is skirted and hides the trapway effectively, boosting the overall aesthetics. The smoother surface can also be beneficial in keeping it clean and hygienic as there is less cracks, nooks, and cranies for dirt, bacteria, and dust to build up inside. Its taller than your standard size too improving accessibility for people who find it hard to sit down on a day to day basis.
Design - It's a close coupled and two piece that is made in vitreous china and finished in a cotton color. Instead of the traditional trip lever you find on most older loos, this one includes a chrome button on top of its tank. When combined with the skirted style mentioned previously, it has a contemporary feel to it that I believe many consumers will appreciate.
Seat - You will need to purchase a seat separately to its bowl and tank. It's a smaller expense, but one that you should be made aware of. Some options we recommend include the SS204-01 and the SS114, both are slow close to prevent slamming from occuring.

Rough in - When we refer to the rough in size, we are talking about the measurement between a finished wall and the hold down bolts of the tank around the waste outlet. More on that here. This particular unit is suitable for a twelve inch rough.
Theme - It's easy to overlook how a product looks in favor of overall functionality and performance. However, matching color themes go a long way to making your bathroom feel more homely. The cotton white can make the room feel brighter than it actually is.
Bathroom size - Before you begin researching into the various models online or part with your cash, you should understand how much space you have available to you and the sort of dimensional requirements needed. Space saver toilets are usually built to work with the limited space given to them, to try and at least present the illusion of a more spacious room. The fact that this one is close coupled and measures 27.5 by 14.2 by 31.2 inches could make this something worth keeping tabs on for that purpose.
Bowl height - Some people aren't able to use standard sized bowls. That's why ADA have got manufacturers making high rise options that usually more accessible to sit and stand up from. Typically these are seventeen inches and upwards. Again, this one fits that category, as it is labelled "Universal Height".
We think the CST412MF#01 toilet is suitable for people working with a medium budget level. The ability to choose between two different flushes is certainly an advantage in saving water, even more so when you consider the one designed for liquid waste removal utilizes just 0.9 gallons. Couple that with the modernistic design, and having plenty of positive consumer reports around the web, and you could be onto a great replacement or upgrade for your bathroom.
